Mobile Nature Center

Schedule the Mobile Nature Center for your school or group, and we’ll send a naturalist to make presentations and engage participants in hands-on activities. This is ideal for outdoor events, science fairs, scout and community activities.

Mobile Nature Center in Macon County: $50/class up to 30 students. $30 each additional class that day.
Out of County: $60/class up to 30 students. $35 each additional class that day. $20 surcharge for trips more than 100 miles round trip.

Telescope Viewing

Make arrangements for an astronomy demonstration using our 8” Celestron telescope. You can view sun spots during the day or stars and planets in the evening. Programs can take place at any of the conservation areas, your school, or a meeting place.

Telescope Viewing at an MCCD site: $1.50/student. Minimum $20.
Telescope Viewing in Macon County: $50/class for up to 30 students. $30 for each additional class that day.
Out of County: $60/class for up to 30 students. $35 for each additional class that day. $20 surcharge for more than 100 miles round trip.

How to Make Reservations for Educational Programs

You may make reservations for all Macon County Conservation District programs and services by calling 217-423-7708, Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm. Programs can be booked for any day of the week (Monday through Sunday). Reserve well in advance to secure the dates you want.
