Part-Time Naturalist

A Part-Time Naturalist job opening is available within the Macon County Conservation District. Naturalists develop and present educational programming for youth and adults, greet visitors, provide assistance and information to the public, and change educational displays quarterly.

Application Deadline: Applications due by February 14, 2020
Compensation: $12.00/hour with earned paid time off, dental, and vision insurance.

Terms of Position: Permanent part-time position for 24 hours per week. Schedule will be 8 hours per day for 3 days of the week (preferably Monday-Wednesday). Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends.

Duties: Develop and present educational programs for youth and adults. Greet visitors, assist the public. Prepare and design quarterly educational displays. See Full Job Description.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school, and two years of related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) in a field of study that includes biology, forestry, history, zoology, botany, or environmental education. Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license. First aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.

Part-Time Custodian

Application Deadline: Open until filled
Wage: $11/hour

Terms of Position: Part-time position for 30 hours per week. Must be willing to work weekends and some evenings.

Duties: Perform custodial duties of a 24,000 square foot Rock Springs Nature Center, including purchasing supplies, cleaning, performing minor repairs, and completing room set up and take down for programs: See Full Job Description.

Qualifications: High school diploma and one year of related experience and/or training. Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License. Must possess a good driving record, and successfully complete a drug screen and criminal background check.
