Dendrochronology, also known as tree ring dating, has applications in archaeology, climatology, and ecology. This presentation shows the tools used, the collection and analysis of cores, and applications in historic and prehistoric archaeology.
Guest speaker Dr. Glen Freimuth, a retired archaeologist and Professor Emeritus at Richland Community College, has conducted archaeological field work in the United States and Caribbean Basin and helped to establish a dendrochronology lab at the Illinois State Museum to date early Midwestern structures.
