The Macon County Conservation District has a full time Site Technician position open. The selected candidate will be self-motivated with a well-rounded knowledge of park and conservation practices, as well as equipment and facility maintenance experience.
Site Technician at Rock Springs Conservation Area – 1 Position

Compensation: Salary Range $31,000 – $34,000 (DOQ) with on-site housing provided.
Terms of Position: Full time, 40 hours per week. Outdoor, year-round duties in all weather. Will include some evening and weekends duties as needed. On-site provided housing required.
Duties: Under direction of the Unit Supervisor, the Site Technician performs daily maintenance of grounds, facilities, equipment, and vehicles. Site Technicians engage in extensive use of heavy equipment including use of chainsaws, tractors and mowers of various sizes, and other equipment as needed. See Full Job Description.
Qualifications: Prefer BS degree in horticulture, forestry, restoration ecology, parks and recreation, or related field, and two years of experience in a related position. High School certificate and 3-5 years related experience acceptable. Experience with the use, and repair of chainsaws, tractors, light to heavy equipment, mowers, and brush cutters required. Expertise in carpentry, electric, plumbing, mechanics, masonry, welding, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. High School certificate and 3-5 years related experience acceptable. Candidates shall have the following or the ability to acquire within 90 days of hire: a current Pesticide Operators License, a valid Illinois Driver’s License (CDL-Class A), and current First Aid and CPR certificates. Must possess a good driving record, and successfully complete a drug screen and criminal background check.
