Enjoy an Independence Day celebration 1860s style. Tour Homestead Prairie Farm, try old-time toys and games, enjoy a music concert by the Rock Springs Dulcimer Club, and an ice cream social. Visitors are welcome to bring their own lawn chair and lunch basket for a picnic on the lawn. Free. No registration required.
Visit Homestead Prairie Farm, a circa 1860 house museum focusing on local and Illinois history, at Rock Springs Conservation Area for Independence Day 1860 on Saturday, June 24 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Rock Springs Conservation Area is located on the southwestern edge of Decatur. To get to Rock Springs Conservation Area from Decatur, go south on Route 48 and turn right onto Rock Springs Road. Watch for signs. You can also reach Rock Springs Conservation Area by going south on Wyckles Road, and turning left onto Rock Springs Road. Plenty of parking is available.
Volunteers Needed for Independence Day 1860
Volunteers are needed to help celebrate our nation’s birthday 1860’s style. We are looking for volunteers to lead tours, serve refreshments, and join in the fun.
